United Way of Brevard held their Annual Awards Celebration on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at the Radisson Resort at the Port. Designed to recognize corporate and organizational efforts, this annual program recognizes companies who set the standard for United Way support in our community.

Harris Corporation received the 2006 Chairman's Award — the highest honor given to a company or organization for outstanding leadership, generosity and dedication to improving our community. Harris pledged a total of $922,648 in this year's campaign, a 15% increase from 2004. Howard Lance, the 2005 Campaign Chair, accepted the award on our behalf.

"I am honored that Harris was selected for this distinguished award," says Mr. Lance. "It is not just corporate and employee dollars, but our employee volunteerism, that this award recognizes."

The Chairman's Award plaque reads, "The contributions of time, talent and gifts from Harris Corporation and its employees have helped mobilize the caring power of our community making a positive difference in Brevard County."
